On Sunday, February 26th, WICEN will be represented at the CCARC Field Day, which is an opportunity for members to renew their membership.

February 26th is also the first of a series of Memory Walk and Jog events, in this case at North Wollongong. March 12th is the Penrith walk.

The previously announced training day has postponed to a date to be advised.

There will be a WICEN check in net tomorrow evening, that is, Monday 9 January, run from La Perouse, with back up from Dural. The expected timetable is:

1930: On the 147.150 Mhz Chatswood Repeater, requiring a 91.5 Hz tone.
1940: On the 147.150 MHz Heaton Repeater, south of Newcastle, needing 123 Hz
1950: On 147.500 MHz simplex
2000: On 3600 kHz in the 80m band, +/- QRM.

There will be a WICEN check in net on Monday 9 January expected to be run from La Perouse, with back up from Dural. The expected timetable is:

1930: On the 147.150 Mhz Chatswood Repeater, requiring a 91.5 Hz tone.

While no events are planned for the next month or so, bushfire and other events over the summer period have led to activations of WICEN in past years. The BOM is predicting a high likelihood of warmer and drier weather for NSW, especially in proximity to the coast.

A training day is proposed for Sunday, February 19.

Today WICEN is taking part in the Blue Mountains Emergency Services Expo from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Katoomba Showground. Displays will be presented by NSW Police (including Police Rescue & Dog Squad) NSW Ambulance, Fire & Rescue NSW, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, Volunteer Rescue Association (which include the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Squad, Caves Rescue & WICEN). There will also be a display of NSW Historical Patrol Vehicles and Traffic & Highway Patrol Show cars. The Blue Mountains LAC page on Facebook has more details.

WICEN is running an activity day and lunch for members and families here at Dural, today.

WICEN will hold a practice net starting at 1930 tomorrow evening, Monday, 5 December, trying several different systems:
At 1930 on the following linked repeaters: Chatswood 2 m, Kurrajong 70 cm, and Berowra 70 cm.
At 1945 a simplex net on 147.500 MHz, with net control at La Perouse in Sydney.
At 2000 on HF, on 3610 kHz +/- QRM, hopefully allowing both local and rural stations to join.
