WICEN's Monday night HF net is being reduced to once a month. This will be the second Monday of each month, so the next HF net will be at 8 p.m. on Monday the 13th of May.

The group has started a 2m digital net via the Chatswood repeater at 7:30 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The first of these was on Wednesday the 24th of April. Initially they will be using the mode MT63-2k-long. In the future it may be possible to link Chatswood with other repeaters to allow others to join the net.

The simplest way to participate is to use the Fldigi suite of software which is free and runs on several platforms. It can be downloaded from: www.w1hkj.com You will need an interface to connect your transceiver to your PC. Regularly used parts of the Fldigi suite are Fldigi, Flmsg, and Flamp. You should install each of these.

Don't hesitate to contact WICEN if you have any questions. Steve VK2BOS thanks all those who have participated in the digital nets so far.

Next Sunday, on May 5th, WICEN is supporting the Memory Walk & Jog run by the NSW branch of Alzheimer's Australia over the "Bay Run" at Leichhardt in inner western Sydney. This will be followed by similar events in the Speers Point Park in the Hunter on September 6th and in the Illawarra on September 13. The event site is: www.memorywalk.com.au
