The WICEN NSW Inc Annual General Meeting for 2016 was held here at ARNSW yesterday.

The Great North Walk 100s in the Hunter region concludes today.

SAREX, the search and rescue exercise built around the search for the single-engined aircraft, VH-MDX, which went missing in August 1981 is next weekend, running from September 16th to 18th in the Barrington Tops area.

October 9 is a training day here at Dural.

The weekend of October 22 and 23 is the Cave Rescue Exercise at Jenolan Caves.

The WICEN NSW Inc Annual General Meeting for 2016 is on next Saturday, 10 September at 1400, here at ARNSW in Quarry Road, Dural. Members should have received official notification and other papers by mail or email. Note that this is election day in some council areas, run by NSWEC, the council itself, or a contractor, and that absentee voting is not available.

Northern Rivers Region WICEN is be assisting with communications for the QERA State Championships, a Horse Enduro at Wiangaree NSW, concluding today.

Last weekend WICEN supported a search for an elderly gentleman missing at Dalmeny, on the NSW Far South Coast, near Narooma. WICEN provided communications for three Bushwalkers' Wilderness Rescue Service teams, and one Volunteer Rescue Association team. The search teams carried the new BWRS UHF Digital Mobile Radio, or DMR radios, and a WICEN VHF DMR radio as back up. The group also provided a link between the search site and the Dalmeny RFS building

The BWRS Navshield is planned for next weekend, 2nd and 3rd July, with set-up on Friday. The location is Wombyan Caves, and checkpoints and radio sites can be reached by most two wheel drive vehicles. Should weather, such as snow, prevent the event going ahead, the alternative date is the 23rd and 24th. Pre-polling has opened, and locations can be found by entering your home or work postcode at http://www.aec.gov.au/.

The BWRS Navshield will be over the weekend of 2nd and 3rd July, with set-up on Friday 1st. The location in the Nowra region, and checkpoints and radio sites can be reached by most two wheel drive vehicles. The radio survey is/was planned for today. As well as the support roles, there is the possibility of a WICEN Team.
