NSW Police Search and Rescue in Sydney are looking at all of the original details around the search for the Cessna 210 VH-MDX that was lost somewhere in the Barrington Tops in 1981, with a view to considering the likely areas to search at this years SAREX in October.

Police records note that WICEN was involved in the search on the 18th and 19th of September 1981.

If you have knowledge of, or know any WICEN members who were involved in this original search can you please contact WICEN.

WICEN's Monday night HF net is being reduced to once a month. This will be the second Monday of each month, so the next HF net will be at 8 p.m. on Monday the 13th of May. The group has started a 2m digital net via the Chatswood repeater at 7:30 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Initially they will be using the mode MT63-2k-long. In the future it may be possible to link Chatswood with other repeaters to allow others to join the net.

The simplest way to participate is to use the Fldigi suite of software which is free and runs on several platforms. It can be downloaded from: www.w1hkj.com

Don't hesitate to contact WICEN if you have any questions.
